Time On Blank Pages / El tiempo en hojas blancas

We were thinking about things of the earth, about the passing of time, about registries and traces, about harvests and how they used to mark the timings back in ancient times, in the sound of the leaves when they are shaken by the wind, in the white color of paper, and little tangible things which are even less contemporary …

Bearing all this in mind, we have been shaping the idea for a new piece thanks to the skillful hand of our dear Marta Menacho.

We want to bury thousands of blank books in a field that is about to be sown. We’ll leave them there throughout the entire sprouting and harvesting process with the idea of having everything that goes on underground written over their blank pages.

Once the harvest is finished, we will dig out the books and leave them out in the open until their leaves are completely dry and the traces are consolidated.

This material and its deteriorated look will allow us to cover a building in a way that the backlit pages are free and shaken by the wind, thus making a whispering sound and a quite homely kinetic effect the way we like it.

To register the passing of time, to make it visible through the light, to set it in motion and let its sound be airborne… that’s where we’re headed.

We hope we can materialize it just like that.
