Esta instalación trata de poner a la vista el uso masivo del plástico en nuestra vida doméstica.
Para llevarla a cabo elegiremos un edificio abandonado o deshabitado, y con bolsas cedidas por los ciudadanos, llenas de luz, intervendremos en todos huecos que dan a la calle, de manera que parezca que el edificio está desbordado y a punto de reventar por la presión de las bolsas.
Esta instalación puede durar desde 1 día hasta varios meses, en los que las bolsas se irán deteriorando y mostrarán al público una imagen menos vistosa y alegre que los primeros días, lo que nos ayudará a mostrar de manera visual, el difícil envejecimiento del plástico tiene en el medio ambiente.

This installation is to bring into view the massive consumption of plastic in our everyday life.
To carry this out we will choose an abandoned or uninhabited building, with bags donated by the residents, filled with lights, we are going to fill in all holes that open onto the street, so that it appears that the building is overflowing and about to burst under the pressure of the bags.
This installation can last from 1 day to several months, during which the bags will deteriorate and will give the audience a less colorful and cheerful image than the first few days, which will help us to visually demonstrate, the difficulty that the aging of plastic causes for the environment.
«We continue to work on ideas that, in addition to being aesthetically striking, put in the spotlight and in the public debate, issues that affect us all.
And among all the causes that we are interested in ‘bringing to light’, the excess of plastic and, in general, exacerbated consumption occupies much of our creative thinking and our daily concern. We all know what we are talking about, so we are not going to talk here about the danger this represents for the planet.
With the piece ‘Bursts of plastic that occupy the air’ we want to make visible the physical threat that the excess of plastic exerts on us, occupying our vital space and imposing itself with a threatening presence.
To this end, we will create a large tunnel of wind, light, and air through which visitors will be invited to enter in such a way that they will feel uncomfortably caressed by thousands of strips of recycled plastic, coming close to almost touching us.
This plastic moved by the wind will create a narrow passageway, like a car wash, in which the smell, the look and sound, and the time it takes to go through it, will make us come out a little more restless than when we entered.
To carry out this idea, two backlit white longitudinal structures will be created. Placed parallel, they will occupy a long space of a street or square, blocking its traffic.
The strips that form the piece will be created from all the plastic obtained from local consumption, which we will meticulously cut to form strips of exact width and length and which we will tie to a grid of the same size as the structures of the passageway to which it will be attached.
Inside the structures that form the light corridor will be housed the cold light bulbs and fans in charge of moving the plastic. The walls of the structure will be made of white micro-perforated canvas, which will allow light and air to escape from the interior.
It seems to us a simple way to get an uncomfortable feeling that causes that for a while we can not get out of our head the amount of space that occupies the plastic in our lives.

Below images of a second version of the piece that could be carried out on the facade of a building.
To do this, we would fill all the windows with the strips of recycled plastic. The system would be the same, attach the grids with the plastic strips to the window frames, occupying the holes in their entirety. In the interior of the building would be located the spotlights and fans that will give the effect of light and wind coming from inside.
Seguimos trabajando en ideas que además de ser estéticamente impactantes, pongan en el punto de mira y en el debate público, temas que nos afectan a todos. Y entre todas las causas que nos interesa «sacar a la luz» el exceso de plástico y en general el consumo exacerbado ocupa gran parte de nuestro pensamiento creativo y de nuestra preocupación diaria. Todos sabemos de lo que estamos hablando, por lo que no vamos a hablar aquí del peligro que esto representa para el planeta.
Con la pieza «Ráfagas de plástico que ocupan el aire» queremos visibilidad la amenaza física que el exceso de plástico ejerce sobre nosotros ocupando nuestro espacio vital e imponiéndose con una presencia amenazadora.
Para ello crearemos un gran túnel de viento, luz y aire por el que se invitará a los visitantes a internarse de manera que se sientan incómodamente acariciados por miles de tiras de plástico reciclado, acercándose hasta casi tocarnos.
Este plástico movido por el viento creara un estrecho pasadizo, a modo de túnel de lavado, y en el que el olor, el aspecto y el sonido y el tiempo que se tarde en recorrerlo, propicie que salgamos un poco mas inquietos que cuando entramos.
Para llevarlo a cabo esta idea, se crearán dos estructuras longitudinales blancas retroiluminada. Colocadas paralelas ocuparán un largo espacio de una calle o plaza, bloqueando su tráfico.
Las tiras que forman la pieza serán creadas a partir de todo el plástico conseguido del consumo local, que cortaremos meticulosamente para forma tiras de exacta anchura y longitud y que ataremos a una retícula del mismo tamaño que las estructuras del pasadizo a las que se fijará.
Dentro de las estructuras que forman el pasillo de luz estarán alojados los focos de luz fría y ventiladores encargados de mover el plástico. Las paredes de la estructura serán de lona blanca microperforada, lo que permitirá que salga la luz y el aire del interior.
Nos parece una manera sencilla de conseguir una incomoda sensación que provoque que durante un rato no podamos apartar de nuestra cabeza la cantidad de espacio que ocupa el plástico en nuestra vida.

Debajo os dejamos imágenes de una segunda versión de la pieza que se podría llevar a cabo en la fachada de un edificio.
Para ello llenaríamos todas las ventanas con las tiras de plástico reciclado. sEl sistema sería el mismo, sujetar las retículas con las tiras de plástico a los marcos de las ventanas, ocupando los huecos en su totalidad. En el interior del edifico estarían situados los focos y los ventiladores que darán el efecto de luz y viento saliendo del interior.
We saw that in China they had created a giant moon for dark nights, and we know of other artists who have used large stars in their work. So, without setting a precedent, we are not being totally original in proposing a large lunar sphere, although of course ours will be in «our style».
And the fact is that imagining the moon, full of all the plastic waste that we can’t fit on earth, is a not so dystopian hypothesis… we sense that the next trips to space will be loaded with everything that we can’t or don’t want to recycle in these civilised countries in which we live.
The piece will be very present in the city’s skyline, offering a surrealist vision that will be hard to forget. On the contrary, the intention is to make it look like something alarming and that while it hangs over our heads it is sending us messages that make us reflect.
We don’t want to show it just as a light show but as a warning from the sky of what we are losing, what we are generating and what we are degrading with the overexploitation to which we are subjecting the planet. It also raises the question of who will be the owners of these universes that are still uncolonised.
The moon will be raised by a large crane, which the public will perceive as part of the installation. This element is extremely important because it makes us think of all the natural life that is being lost and replaced by artificial scenarios perfectly designed according to the tastes of a society that demands spectacle and extraordinary experiences over real life.
To carry it out, we start from a giant ball formed by a light structure created from the modules. Each separate piece will be filled with plastic waste of all kinds, obtained from local consumption, which will be sewn into the mesh. When all the pieces are ready, they will be joined together to form our plastic moon.
It will then be elevated and illuminated with spotlights, which will change colour temperature to turn it into a golden sun during daylight hours.
Plastic Full Moon is a piece we devised in 2019 and since then we have been striving to bring it to fruition, as it gives a pertinent message in these times of lunar travel and excessive plastic rubbish.
We have now had the opportunity to further develop the project for the Lichtparcour Festival and our fingers are crossed that we can finally see it produced in Brunswick in 2024.

Vimos que en China habían creado una luna gigante para noches oscuras, y conocemos a otros artistas que han utilizado estrellas de grandes dimensiones en sus obras. Así que, sin que sirva de precedente, no estamos siendo totalmente originales al proponer una gran esfera lunar, aunque claro, la nuestra será a «nuestro estilo».
Y es que imaginar la luna, llena de todos los residuos plásticos que no nos caben en la tierra, es una hipótesis no tan distópica… intuimos que los próximos viajes al espacio irán cargados de todo aquello que no podemos o no queremos reciclar en estos países civilizados en los que vivimos.
La pieza estará muy presente en el skyline de la ciudad, ofreciendo una visión surrealista difícil de olvidar. Pero no va a ser precisamente simpática, al contrario, la intención es que parezca algo alarmante y que mientras cuelga sobre nuestras cabezas nos esté enviando mensajes que nos hagan reflexionar.
No queremos mostrar sólo como un espectáculo de luces sino una advertencia desde el cielo de lo que estamos perdiendo, de lo que estamos generando y de lo que estamos degradando con la sobreexplotación a la que estamos sometiendo al planeta. También lanzar la pregunta sobre quienes van a ser los dueños de estos universos que aun están sin colonizar.
La luna se elevará mediante una gran grúa, que el público percibirá como parte de la instalación. Este elemento es sumamente importante porque nos hace pensar en toda la vida natural que se está perdiendo y que es sustituida por escenarios artificiales perfectamente diseñados acorde a los gustos de una sociedad que demanda espectáculo y experiencias extraordinarias por encima de la vida real.
Para llevarla a cabo, partimos de una bola gigante formada por una estructura ligera creada a partir de los módulos. Cada pieza por separado, se rellenará con residuos plásticos de todo tipo, obtenidos del consumo local, que irán cosidos a la malla. Cuando todas las piezas estén listas, se unirán para formar nuestra luna de plástico.
Después se elevará y se iluminará con focos, que cambiarán de temperatura de color para convertirla en un sol dorado durante las horas de luz.
Plastic Full Moon es una pieza que ideamos en 2019 y desde entonces nos esforzamos por llevarla a cabo, ya que da un mensaje pertinente en estos tiempos de viajes lunares y exceso de basura plástica.
Ahora hemos tenido la oportunidad de seguir desarrollando el proyecto para el Festival Lichtparcour y cruzamos los dedos para que finalmente podamos verlo producido en Brunswick en 2024.
In our daily lives, we do not take the time to receive visual sensations that seem to be aimed at raising our awareness about the plastic that surrounds usand overwhelms us. Some months ago, we were actually shocked by the remodeling of an emblematic building in our city.
Prior to their installation, all the window gaps had been protected with plastic to keep the rain out. The wind gave the impression that this plastic attempted to escape from the interior creating a frenetic unsettling visual spectacle. This was enhanced by the deafening noise of the agitated plastic.
We thought that we would achieve a quite impacting piece if we could reproduce this moment with our lights. This was to be done with very little means. It would certainly move any viewer the way it moved us.
We present our first approach to this proposal. Giant curtains made of transparent recycled plastic scraps pouring out of the empty building like roaring plastic tongues lighted with projectors and shaken by powerful fans…
Who dares to follow us into this experiment? An empty building, recycled plastic, lights and fans… Itdoesn’t seem hard. Let’s see if it is feasible.

En nuestra vida diaria no paramos de recibir estímulos visuales que parecen destinados a ponernos en guardia sobre el plástico que nos rodea y nos desborda. Concretamente, hace algunos meses, nos quedamos extasiados mirando las obras de rehabilitación de un edificio emblemático de nuestra ciudad.
Y es que todos los huecos de las ventanas, aun sin instalar, habían sido protegidos con plásticos para evitar que la lluvia entrara en el interior, debido al viento, este plástico, daba la sensación de querer escapar del interior, generando un espectáculo visual frenético y desasosegante, acrecentado por el ruido ensordecedor del plástico en convulsión.
Pensamos que si logramos reproducir este momento con nuestras luces tendremos una pieza de alto impacto, hecha con pocos medios y que seguro remueve a cualquiera que lo presencie, tal como nos pasó a nosotros.
Y aquí dejamos una primera aproximación de la propuesta, visillos gigantes hechos con retales de plásticos reciclados transparentes, y que a modo de lenguas de plástico iluminadas con proyectores y movidas por potentes ventiladores, se escapan por las ventanas de un edificio vacío, y rugen de manera ensordecedora.
¿Quien se atreve a seguirnos en este experimento?, un edificio vacío, plástico reciclado, luces y ventiladores… no parece difícil, a ver si es posible.

We
like to pay attention to what goes on in the street. One of our work routines
is to wander about, observe, and allow ourselves to be surprised…
And,
as we roam around, we notice anomalies in the landscape, those that come up
casually and which, though not produced by human action, they are actually a
direct consequence of our anomalous behaviors.
Unfortunately,
dumped plastic is the cause of most of the disarrays we find… But what can we say
now that we have not already said here many times before?
We
are especially transfixed by the way in which the wind twirls those plastic
shreds which get stuck and flap and twist when they find obstacles as they try
to break free and fly again engaging in a sort of hypnotic dance one can’t take
one’s eyes off of.
So,
we thought we could make this casual spectacle last by turning it into a piece
of light working as a huge, broken, aged flag that would represent us all since
we all share something beyond territories and ideologies, and that is the fact
that we live in a world of plastic that is burying us and which will end up
asphyxiating us and polluting us to death.
This
piece would be quite simple technically speaking as we would only need to find thin,
used, aged plastic with which we would fashion our makeshift flag, and a tall
flagpole created for the occasion or, better yet, a city element that could
work as such to attach the flag to it dominating the public space.
We
would also need to count on the wind and a source of light to illuminate the
plastic. This would suffice to offer an unsettling spectacle worthy of the
unhealthy world we live in.
We
have always like to work on small, self-managed, intimate street pieces where
we have to use our wit in order to talk about the things that concern us, that
interest us, or that we simply enjoy, relying on minimal resources with which
we try to obtain the best results.
However,
when we work at large events, we usually tackle large installations. And we do
this not because of their technology (we steer away from it) but because of
their complex execution, as we enjoy
working with large quantities of donated materials in collaboration with
associations and volunteers with whom we work together to set them up.
Although
this piece has been conceived for a large event, it keeps the simplicity of our
‘guerrilla’ works for it can be carried out with minimal resources without losing
any visual beauty or weakening its message.

Nos gusta mirar lo que pasa en la calle, entre nuestras rutinas de trabajo está salir a pasear, observar y dejándonos sorprender…
Y en este deambular, nos vamos fijando en las anomalías del paisaje, esas que surgen de manera causal y que aunque no de hayan producido por la acción humana, sí son consecuencia directa de nuestros comportamientos anómalos.
Por desgracia, el plástico abandonado es la causa de gran parte de los desordenes que nos encontramos… qué vamos a decir que no hayamos dicho ya aquí mil veces.
Nos quedamos especialmente extasiados mirando cómo el viento hace flotar esos jirones plásticos, que al encontrar obstáculos, quedan prendido y se agitan y retuercen, mientras luchan por retomar el vuelo ven una especie de danza hipnótica que cuesta dejar de mirar.
Y hemos pensado, que podíamos hacer durar este espectáculo casual, convirtiéndolo en una pieza de luz que funcione como una enorme bandera, rota y deteriorada, que nos represente a todos, porque si algo nos une, más allá del territorio y las ideologías, es que compartimos un mundo plástico que nos está sepultando y acabará matándonos por asfixia y contaminación.
Sería esta una pieza de gran simplicidad técnica, ya que sólo se necesitaría encontrar plástico fino, usado y deteriorado, con el que componer nuestra especie de bandera y un mástil alto, creado para la ocasión, o mejor, un elemento urbano que funcione como tal y del que poder dejarlo enganchado y presidiendo el espacio público.
Además, debemos contar con el viento y con un foco cuya luz incida sobre el plástico. Con esto sería suficiente para ofrecer un espectáculo de luz inquietante y digno del mundo insano en el que vivimos.
Siempre nos han gustado trabajar en pequeñas e íntimas piezas callejeras autogestionadas, en las que usamos el ingenio para hablar de cosas que nos preocupan, que nos interesan o que simplemente nos gustan, contando para ello con mínimos recursos con los que intentamos conseguir máximos resultados.
Sin embargo, cuando trabajamos en grandes eventos, solemos acometer instalaciones de gran envergadura, no precisamente por su tecnología, (huimos de ella), sino por su compleja gestión, es que nos gusta trabajar con grandes cantidades de materiales donados y en colaboración con asociaciones y voluntarios con los que compartimos el trabajo de montaje.
Esta pieza, aun siendo pensada para un gran evento, conserva la simplicidad de nuestros trabajos de guerrilla, ya que puede ser llevada a cabo con mínimos medios, pero sin renunciar a la belleza visual y a un potente mensaje.
