Scientific evidence is showing that this is just the beginning of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2023\/may\/17\/global-heating-climate-crisis-record-temperatures-wmo-research\">dramatic increase<\/a> that is directly related to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clientearth.org\/latest\/latest-updates\/stories\/fossil-fuels-and-climate-change-the-facts\/\">usage of fossil fuels<\/a> and the overexploitation of natural resources around the planet.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/clima-y-medio-ambiente\/2022-10-05\/el-calentamiento-global-hace-20-veces-mas-probable-una-sequia-extrema-como-la-vivida-este-verano-en-el-hemisferio-norte.html\">One of the consequences of global warming is drought<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/es\/climatechange\/science\/climate-issues\/water\">is devastating the world<\/a> and is manifesting itself in the form of a food crisis, fires, floods, and severe illnesses such as allergies, breathing disorders and deaths due to high temperatures.<\/p>\n<p>Although our civilized society does not question the <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2017\/04\/06\/planeta_futuro\/1491498023_695605.html\">universal right to water<\/a>, scarcity is not affecting all the citizens equally, thus <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/mexico\/blog\/9473\/agua-otra-cara-de-la-desigualdad\/\">provoking a true \u2018water gap\u2019<\/a> since the city elites are spoiling water for their own leisure while the most vulnerable groups are the ones suffering the real effects of such scarcity.<\/p>\n<p>Appalled by <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/espana\/2022-08-10\/la-sequia-en-espana-en-imagenes.html\">the images<\/a> of dry reservoirs, barren fields and vast terrains cracked by the lack of water, we have decided to rescue our piece <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.luzinterruptus.com\/?p=7067\">Drawing the Drought<\/a><\/strong> which we carried out back in 2019 in La Jarosa, a reservoir near Madrid. We want to make it bigger in order to add more dramatism to it.<\/p>\n<p>As always in our work, the idea is simple and accessible to everyone. Our intention is to evince the loss of water in natural environments. For this reason, we need a large extension of cracked deserted land, preferably a dry reservoir or riverbed. We will draw large circles with light following the pattern of the cracks on the ground.<\/p>\n<p>The material will evidently be quite basic: just LED strip lights that we will place inside the cracks, a grid connection, and patience for the drawing\u2026<\/p>\n<p>The images were created by Burna Visual Art.<\/p>\n<p>Hopefully, we will have no need to carry this one out\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;&#8212;-<\/p>\n<p>Este el verano esta siendo <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2023\/jul\/04\/monday-was-hottest-day-for-global-average-temperature-on-record-as-climate-crisis-bites\">el m\u00e1s caluroso desde que tenemos registros de temperatura<\/a>, y hay certezas cient\u00edficas que demuestran que no es m\u00e1s que el principio de una <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/environment\/2023\/may\/17\/global-heating-climate-crisis-record-temperatures-wmo-research\">dram\u00e1tica escalada<\/a> directamente relacionada con el <a href=\"https:\/\/www.clientearth.org\/latest\/latest-updates\/stories\/fossil-fuels-and-climate-change-the-facts\/\">masivo uso de combustibles f\u00f3siles<\/a> y la sobreexplotaci\u00f3n de los recursos naturales a la que estamos sometiendo al planeta.<\/p>\n<p>Una de las <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/clima-y-medio-ambiente\/2022-10-05\/el-calentamiento-global-hace-20-veces-mas-probable-una-sequia-extrema-como-la-vivida-este-verano-en-el-hemisferio-norte.html\">consecuencias relacionada con el calentamiento global<\/a> es <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/es\/climatechange\/science\/climate-issues\/water\">la sequ\u00eda que asola el mundo<\/a> y que est\u00e1 manifest\u00e1ndose en forma de crisis alimentaria, incendios, inundaciones, y graves enfermedades como alergias, problemas respiratorios incluso muertes por altas temperaturas.<\/p>\n<p>Y aunque nadie cuestiona del <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/elpais\/2017\/04\/06\/planeta_futuro\/1491498023_695605.html\">derecho universal al agua<\/a> en nuestras sociedades civilizadas, la escasez no afecta igual a todos los habitantes del territorio, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.greenpeace.org\/mexico\/blog\/9473\/agua-otra-cara-de-la-desigualdad\/\">provocando una verdadera &#8216;brecha del agua&#8217;<\/a> ya que \u00a0 mientras las \u00e9lites urbanas consumen agua en exceso para su ocio, los colectivos m\u00e1s vulnerables son los que verdaderamente sufren\u00a0las condiciones de escasez.<\/p>\n<div class=\"row\">\n<div id=\"sharing_widget\" class=\"col-sm-12 bottommargin\">\n<div class=\"a2a_kit a2a_kit_size_32 a2a_default_style\">Viendo diariamente <a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/espana\/2022-08-10\/la-sequia-en-espana-en-imagenes.html\">im\u00e1genes<\/a> de pantanos secos, campos desolados y grande extensiones de terreno totalmente agrietados por la falta de agua, y que cada vez est\u00e1n mas cerca de nosotros, nos hemos acordado de la pieza <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luzinterruptus.com\/?p=7067\"><strong><span style=\"color: #3366ff;\">\u00abDibujando la sequ\u00eda\u00bb<\/span><\/strong><\/a> que llevamos a cabo en el 2019 en el pantano de la Jarosa, cerca de Madrid, y hemos querido repensarla y darle m\u00e1s extensi\u00f3n.
