\nAprovechando nuestra visita de febrero a New York, para asistir a la exposici\u00f3n \u00abContemplating the Void\u00bb<\/a> del Guggenheim Museum, en la que nos exhiben una propuesta ideada para el atrio del museo, queremos salir a la calle con nuestras luces, que es lo que realmente nos interesa y m\u00e1s nos gusta hacer.<\/p>\n

Nuestra intenci\u00f3n es llevar a cabo una instalaci\u00f3n ef\u00edmera, Literatura versus tr\u00e1fico,<\/span><\/a> con luz y libros en una de las avenidas m\u00e1s transitadas de Manhattan, cortando uno de sus carriles al tr\u00e1fico para uso de los peatones.<\/p>\n

Para ello, pretendemos repartir 2000 libros iluminados por el pavimento, colocados aleatoriamente de manera que la gente pueda pasear entre ellos f\u00e1cilmente y pararse a ojearlos e incluso leerlos.<\/p>\n

Queremos que la literatura se apodere de las calles y se convierta en conquistadora del espacio p\u00fablico, ofreciendo gratuitamente a los que pasean, un espacio libre de tr\u00e1fico<\/p>\n

, que por unas pocas horas nocturnas, sucumbir\u00e1 al modesto poder de la palabra escrita.<\/p>\n

As\u00ed, un espacio urbano reservado convencionalmente a la velocidad, la contaminaci\u00f3n y el ruido, por unas horas, se convertir\u00e1 en un lugar para la tranquilidad, el relax y la convivencia. Iluminado por una suave luz difusa que nos har\u00e1 sentir c\u00f3modos, en un ambiente acogedor, a pesar del caos que nos rodea.<\/p>\n

Los libros, quedar\u00e1n durante toda la intervenci\u00f3n a disposici\u00f3n del que se los quiera llevar, con lo que la instalaci\u00f3n se autoreciclar\u00e1 y tendr\u00e1 la duraci\u00f3n que los usuarios quieran que tarde en desaparecer.<\/p>\n

Al final, los coches volver\u00e1n a ocupar su sitio pero para muchos, el recuerdo de que una vez los libros ocuparon este mismo espacio, har\u00e1 que su relaci\u00f3n con este entorno cambie y, seguro que muchas veces, contar\u00e1n a los que les acompa\u00f1en, que ellos lo vieron con sus propios ojos\u2026<\/p>\n

Taking advantage of our visit to New York in February, to attend the exhibition \u00abContemplating the Void\u00bb<\/a>, at the Guggenheim Museum, in which we exhibited a proposal which we designed for the atrium of the museum, we want to move our lights into the street, which is what really interests us and what we most like to do. <\/span><\/p>\n

Our intention is to carry out an ephemeral installation, \u00ab<\/span>Literature versus traffic\u00bb<\/span>, with light and books on one of the busiest avenues in Manhattan, closing one of its lanes for the use of pedestrians. <\/span><\/p>\n

To that end, we plan to distribute 2000 illuminated books along the pavement, randomly placed in such a way that people can walk among them easily and stop to look at them or even read them. <\/span><\/p>\n

We want literature to seize the streets and become the conqueror of public spaces, freely offering to those who walk by a space free of traffic which for a few hours of the night will succumb to the modest power of the written word. <\/span><\/p>\n

Thus, an urban space conventionally reserved for speed, pollution and noise, for a few hours will become a place of peacefulness, relaxation and coexistence. Illuminated by a soft, diffuse light which makes us feel comfortable, in a pleasant environment, in spite of the chaos which surrounds us. <\/span><\/p>\n

The books, of diverse topics will remain, during the entire intervention, at the disposal of anyone who wants to take them, signifying that the installation will recycle itself and be of the duration which the users want it to linger before disappearing. <\/span>

\nIn the end, the cars will return to occupy their place, but for many, the memory that once books occupied this same space, will change their relationship with the environment and surely they will tell those that accompany them many times that they saw them with their own eyes\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n
