Pool of light on stagnant water / Piscina de luz sobre agua estancada

In many cities, especially those that are in crisis, the focus has shifted away from water in public spaces, leaving ponds, fountains, reservoirs and public swimming pools  in a state of abandonment that does nothing apart from contribute to the decline of our urban landscape.

We have imagined some of these landscape with water, that gave life and freshness to the everyday life before, which are now filled with litter and polluted water, as a possible location to install a floating pool of light.

The intention is to protest in a visual manner that they clean up these degraded areas and bring them back to life so that they can be used by the citizens again.

We will create a large surface of blue air mattresses to the underside of which we will attach lights, so that it appears to be a large mass of clean and illuminated water. The format will remind one of an Olympic-sized swimming pool and will be equipped with a ladder made of polyurethane pipe which is easily moldable and floats.

Once the installation has finalized, the surface will be removed and illuminated air mattresses will be given away to the visitors, in this way, when people use them in other locations and contexts, they will be reminded of our installation and will surely want this space to be clean and available again, and perhaps, if they are insistent, it will come to pass.
